Quick Overview

Heritage® Oak is an outstanding hybrid of English Oak and Bur Oak. It combines the best traits of both. This tree is a reliable performer and can withstand Chicagoland’s harsh winters. It resists mildew, has a strong, broadly pyramidal form, and features attractive dark green leaves. This tree is a clear winner in any landscape!

Why it rocks:

Heritage® Oak, also called Clemons Oak or Heritage® Macdaniel’s Oak, combines the best of Quercus robur, English Oak, and Quercus macrocarpa, Bur Oak. As a strong hybrid that is resistant to powdery mildew, this tree enhances the landscape by offering reliable performance, dense shade, and lasting beauty. Its strong, broadly pyramidal canopy provides valuable shade and visual appeal over the years. In the fall, the glossy dark green leaves turn a sunny yellow, bringing seasonal interest. Heritage® Oak also supports local wildlife with its acorns and provides a cooling resting place in the heat of summer. Planting Heritage® Oak adds significant aesthetic and functional value to any yard.

Where to put it:

Heritage® Oak is a tough tree that can grow in various locations in the landscape and in tough urban areas. Plant this durable shade tree along parkways, boulevards, and in spacious front yards or parks. Be sure to keep it about 20 feet from existing structures to allow its full canopy to take shape as it grows and matures.

What it needs:

Heritage® Oak will thrive in almost any location but prefers full sun to partial shade. It is mildew-resistant and low-maintenance. To promote healthy roots, follow our tree care guidelines during the first growing seasons.
