Why it rocks:
Crimson® Topaz Apple: A Sweet-Tart Sensation! Crimson® Topaz Apple goes head-to-head with Honeycrisp Apple in the realm of sweet-tart flavor profiles. This delightful apple is not only sweet and juicy but also crisp and tart, making it perfect for enjoying fresh or for baking. Developed by the Institute of Experimental Botany in the Czech Republic, Crimson® Topaz Apple shows exceptional performance and durability. In spring, before the apples appear, the tree showcases fragrant white to light pink flowers, adding charm to your garden. Crimson® Topaz Apple is truly a blushing beauty, with its fruit ripening to reveal a yellowish-to-red hue. As the apples mature in the fall, they complement the tree's dark green leaves which transform into a buttery yellow in autumn. This easy-to-grow variety is highly prized for its resistance to common diseases, making it a top choice in our fruit tree collection!
Where to put it:
A dessert item right in your backyard- yes, please! Plant Crimson® Topaz Apple in an open area of your yard or as an accent in the landscape. This tree will do best having other Malus varieties nearby for pollination. These trees are perfect for residential landscapes, provided you allow enough space for them to reach their full mature spread. Planting them near other Malus varieties, including crabapples, will enhance their fruit yield. If you're planting multiple trees, consider grouping them in odd numbers and spacing them at least 15 feet apart. This arrangement will not only boost your fruit production but also enhance the overall beauty of your landscape. When positioning Crimson® Topaz Apple trees, make sure to plant them at least 10 feet away from nearby structures. This distance ensures that their canopies can thrive and spread fully.
What it needs:
Crimson® Topaz Apple will thrive best in full sun and well-drained soil. It benefits from having healthy pollinator companions nearby. Any Malus variety will do. You can manicure the tree as needed as it grows and matures. Please follow our tree care guidelines during the initial growing seasons to promote a strong root system.
