Best Trees for Your Country Home

You have a lot of options here, from shade to privacy & windbreak trees and even something ornamental. It's good to first assess what your needs are and once that's been determined you can start planning. Be sure to stop by our Design Center to help you get started.

Shade Trees

Any of our shade tree options will work for you in open areas of your property or anywhere shade is needed. Some options may do better near water or in areas that are prone to occasional flooding, for example, Niobe Golden Weeping Willow TreesDawn Redwood Trees, Bald Cypress Trees, and River Birch Trees are great options. Other large shade tree options extend to tough trees like Kentucky Coffee Trees, Hackberry Trees, Maple Trees, and Oak Trees.

Evergreen and Privacy Trees

A lot of these trees will double as windbreak trees but you have other options here, not just evergreen trees. Consider multi-stem clump form trees or trees with dense branching structures that will offer a visual block as well as diversity in your landscape. A few popular suggestions are Spruce Trees, Pine Trees, River Birch Trees, Hawthorn Trees, Columnar Oaks, and Arborvitae

Evergreens

Ornamental and Flowering Trees

These trees have a dual purpose, which is where form meets function. By that, I mean that not only will they add beauty to your landscape but also some of them will offer a bit of shade, a visual block, and in some cases, fragrance and even edible fruit! Here are my top picks: Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry, June Snow Dogwood, Whitespire Birch, Crabapple Trees, and Japanese Lilac Trees
