Why it rocks:

Black Hills Spruce is a popular evergreen accent tree for northern landscapes. Black Hills Spruce is an extremely tough, rugged, dense, and cold-hardy tree making it a perfect choice for windbreaks. The formal, pyramidal shape is familiar in the landscape adding a native look, as well as creating a focal point in the lawn. This tree is very similar to Colorado Blue Spruce; the major difference would be the darker green needle color, and a denser somewhat narrower habit of growth. Where to put it:

Great for privacy and accent, Black Hills Spruce adds an interesting texture to the landscape. This tree is extremely versatile and can be used along property lines, in windbreaks, in planting beds around the house, or in open areas of the lawn. Spruce are low-branched trees, so keep in mind that it will block the view of anything you put it in front of. This tree should be kept at least 10ft away from buildings.
