Why it rocks:
Merrill Magnolia is bathed in stunning fragrant white star-shaped flowers with yellow eyes at the ends of the branches in mid spring before the leaves. It has dark green foliage throughout the season. The pointy leaves turn coppery bronze in fall. The fruits are pink pods displayed from early to mid fall. Merrill Magnolia is a wonderful hybrid magnolia selection, known for its early spring bloom in froths of fragrant white flowers and picturesque habit of growth. This tree is fast growing, very hardy, and flowers from a young age. For this tree’s statistics please click on the Additional Details tab above.
Where to put it:
Merrill Magnolia is an excellent feature accent tree. Because of its smaller size and shrub-like form, Merrill Magnolia is commonly used in the front or back landscape to provide accent or anchoring, or around a deck or patio to provide screening. This tree should be planted at least 10ft away from buildings. This is a clump tree, so keep in mind that it will block the view of anything you put it in front of.
