Hackberry is one of the toughest trees available and is one of few native Illinois specimen trees. A good choice for attracting wildlife, the Native Hackberry is also one of the fastest growing trees we have available. The beautiful textured bark adds interest to the landscape, as well as damage protection. Hackberry is always a safe bet and is a must for places where tough growing conditions exist. Where to put it:
Hackberry is an extremely versatile shade tree which can be planted almost anywhere in the yard. This tree should be planted at least 15ft from buildings, and is a perfect choice for open areas and parkways.
