Selected and tested by the National Arboretum, Frontier Elm is one of the new Dutch Elm Disease resistant trees that have been gaining in popularity in recent years. Because it is a cross between Ulmus carpinifolia and Ulmus parvifolia, Frontier Elm is a unique elm variety which has an oval shape and a stunning burgundy fall color. Frontier Elm is an extremely tough, fast growing tree which has a distinctly native look and feel. This tree is sure to satisfy, and reminds us all why nearly every town in America has an Elm Street. Where to put it:
Frontier Elm is an extremely versatile shade tree which can be planted almost anywhere in the yard. This tree should be planted at least 15ft from buildings, and is a perfect choice for open areas and parkways.
