Why it rocks:
Flame Maple is somewhat of a hidden gem, but has been gaining popularity in recent years. This shrub-like tree explodes with a striking red fall color that will be sure to turn some heads. The shrub-like appearance, beautiful leaves, and interesting form make it a great addition to any landscape. Not enough can be said about this beautiful and useful tree. While it grows to be fairly large at maturity, this tree is a slow grower that will be easily manageable even where less space is available. For this tree’s statistics please click on the Additional Details tab above.
Where to put it:
Great for privacy and accent, Flame Maple is great in situations where space is an issue; such as in a front landscape or under power lines. This tree may be used in planting beds around the house, on property lines, to anchor the corners of your house, or in open areas of the lawn. This is a low-branched tree, so keep in mind that it will block the view of anything you put it in front of. Flame Maple adds a native look to the landscape, and looks great in odd numbered clusters. This tree should be kept at least 8-10ft away from buildings. For advice on what types of tree to plant, and where to plant them, please check out our Design Center
